Diesel has appointed a new CEO, filling a role that had been open for over two years. Andrea Rigogliosi, who was most recently global head of retail and commercial at Miu Miu, will take on the position.
Renzo Rosso, chairman of OTB Group, said: “Diesel is a magical brand that I founded, one that has always stood out in fashion. Glenn Martens’s creative direction has transformed it, reconnecting with its authentic roots and making the brand fresher, more contemporary, and increasingly popular with younger generations. Recently, I’ve been closely guiding the brand with a management team through a challenging market phase. I’m thrilled to welcome Andrea to Diesel. Together with the team, I’m confident he will help unlock even more of Diesel’s potential at this important stage in the brand’s evolution.”
Diesel’s previous CEO, Eraldo Poletto, stepped down for personal reasons in February 2023 after just seven months in the role. He had been promoted to replace Massimo Piombini, who served as CEO from 2020 to 2023. Since Poletto’s departure, Rosso has been steering the brand.
Rigogliosi joins from Miu Miu, where he worked starting in January 2024. Before that, he served as European president of Fendi from July 2021. He also spent eight years in regional leadership roles at Dior and nearly five years at L’Oréal Luxe.
The appointment comes at a key moment for OTB Group, which owns brands including Jil Sander, Maison Margiela, Marni, and Viktor & Rolf, and holds a stake in Amiri, among other interests. In February 2025, the group reported that turnover fell 4.4% year-on-year (at constant exchange rates) to €1.8 billion for the year ending December 31, 2024, due to challenges in the wholesale channel.
Diesel has been a standout, with revenue rising 3.2% at constant exchange rates. OTB credits this to the success of a repositioning strategy launched in 2020, which focused on strengthening Diesel’s identity and attracting a diverse range of consumers—especially Gen Z. A key part of this strategy was appointing Glenn Martens, creative director of Y/Project, as Diesel’s creative director. (Martens, who led Y/Project until 2024, also took on the role of creative director at Maison Margiela in January 2025, while continuing at Diesel.)
The success of Diesel’s repositioning is clear not only in strong sales but also in the buzz it generates during Milan Fashion Week. Last September, the brand organized a city-wide “egg hunt” to promote its Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The year before, it held a series of raves in major cities from Tbilisi to Rome.
Rigogliosi’s retail experience will be valuable as OTB looks to continue expanding its direct channels, which made up 57% of group sales in 2024. Last year, Diesel made significant investments in direct retail, opening 16 new stores. These focused on Asia—with flagships in Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo—as well as high-potential markets like Bangalore.
Rosso expressed confidence in Diesel’s positioning and growth prospects under Rigogliosi: “Today, Diesel can be seen as the only true alternative to the luxury world, built on values like inclusivity and accessibility—which feel especially relevant in this complex moment for the fashion industry.”
