The N.21 lookbook was photographed at night on the quiet, empty streets of Milan. “I love the city’s historic buildings with their grand doorways and the mysterious nighttime mood,” said designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua. But this collection wasn’t made for late-night parties—quite the opposite. Dell’Acqua has a subtle rebellious streak, and his resort line focuses on everyday style with an unexpected twist, something he does brilliantly.
In the showroom, racks were filled with neoprene-lined Fair Isle cotton sweatshirts paired with long wool skirts, sequined pencil skirts worn with sporty striped polos, and elegant brocade skirt suits given an edge by worn-in denim shirts. Dell’Acqua explained he wanted to “return to basics” but with an “imperfect polish” to keep things interesting—mixing masculine and feminine touches, with a hint of 1940s vintage glamour for a slightly undone feel.
Classic pieces—like black leather jackets and plaid coats—were layered over sequined evening dresses and delicate silk slips with scattered floral prints. Dell’Acqua’s styling is just quirky enough to catch the eye but always stays wearable. He plays with conventions without abandoning them entirely. “I like to encourage a little daring—trusting your instincts, being creative, and adding a touch of ease,” he said. “Fashion isn’t just for special occasions, and it shouldn’t feel intimidating. I want to give women pieces that make everyday life more exciting.” At a reasonable price, it’s a smart, uplifting approach.
