This summer, the Guava Girl aesthetic and Cherry Blossom cheeks are everywhere—so it’s no surprise that blush is the must-have product right now. Nothing gives your skin a fresh, healthy glow quite like it.

“Blush instantly brightens your face, adding freshness and radiance,” says makeup artist Yael Maquieira. But this season, it’s not just about swiping on a single powder shade. Instead, Maquieira suggests using a “blush combo”—mixing tones and textures for a look that lasts, even in the heat.

### What’s a blush combo?
Though it sounds new, pros have been using this technique for years. “First, apply a cream blush, then set it with a powder blush,” Maquieira explains.

The combo gives dimension and staying power. “Cream blush adds a juicy, radiant effect, but it doesn’t always last,” she says. “Powder locks in the color, making it look fresher and more natural for longer.”

### How to apply it
A long-lasting blush combo is easy—just follow these steps:

1. Prep your skin: “Hydration is key—without it, the product won’t blend well or last,” Maquieira says.
2. Start with cream blush: “I dab a little on the back of my hand, then apply it with a brush to avoid disturbing my foundation.”
3. Set with powder blush: “Use one side of the brush to apply, then blend with the clean side for a natural finish.”

### Best color pairings
You can mix any shades—pinks, peaches, beiges, or browns. “I love pairing different tones, one cream and one powder,” Maquieira says. “Play with color to create a personalized, vibrant look.”

Any rules? “I avoid terracottas—they can dull the skin,” she notes. Instead, try complementary shades like deep burgundy with baby pink. “Cooler tones can rejuvenate the face,” she adds. “Orange with pink, or soft lilac with cool pink, brings light and vitality.”

The key? Experiment and have fun—your perfect blush combo is out there.
