Marie and Julie Skall presented their spring collection in the beautiful, sprawling garden of Copenhagen’s 18th-century Designmuseum Danmark. The sisters debuted new accessories—shoes, bags, and belts—crafted from innovative materials made from Sicilian orange and cactus byproducts. The standout piece was a ballet flat with a delicate strap and a softly upturned toe.

“We both danced when we were younger,” Julie explained, “so we’ve always been drawn to ballet, especially the modern style.” The show’s soundtrack featured waltzes and melodies from The Nutcracker, played by classical musicians. Rather than directly referencing dancewear like leotards, the designs captured the feeling of movement and emotion. As Julie put it, the goal was to “let emotions set your body free.”

The collection had an effortless charm—a knit dress casually layered over jeans, a broderie anglaise headscarf with geometric precision, swinging drop earrings, and tassel belts. Liberty prints, a striking red trench coat, and an ecru linen vest-and-pants set with a button-down added playful sophistication. While the pieces were lovely, the grand scale of the garden slightly overshadowed the simplicity of the clothes. A quicker pace and a cozier setting might have suited the intimate appeal of the collection better.
