What did street style look like a decade ago? As we get ready for the spring 2017 men’s season, we’re going back 10 years to see what stylish guys were wearing on their way to and from the fashion shows. A lot has changed since then—designers have moved around, so most brands have new creative directors, and men’s clothing has definitely gotten a bit looser (though it might be tightening up again). Back then, shows were spread across four fashion capitals, plus Pitti in Florence. Now, only Milan and Paris—and good old Pitti—still have dedicated menswear weeks.

A lot has shifted in these 10 years. Virgil Abloh has passed away and is deeply missed. Alessandro Michele left Gucci in Milan for Valentino in Rome. And while Matthew Foley still has bleached blonde hair, he’s swapped Milanese sprezzatura for Thom Browne’s slim take on the gray flannel suit. Otherwise, not much has changed. This year is another World Cup year; Yu Masui and Takeji Hirakawa are still showing off their style, and Phil Oh, along with Acielle Tanbetova, will be capturing all the action off the runway.

Take a walk down street style memory lane and see what still looks good—and, even better, what doesn’t. Time flies when you’re having fun.

This well-dressed gentleman is an Olympic fencer who walked in Rochambeau’s show this season, Public School’s last, and will appear at the Rio Olympics this summer on the U.S. fencing team. He’s a man who can do both,” wrote Steff Yotka in 2016. She was onto something—these days, Watson is a Vogue favorite, modeling for Vogue World in Paris and in Hollywood.
