La DoubleJ’s motto is “Wrapping the world in joy”—and even if the world isn’t always in the mood, founder JJ Martin keeps championing fashion that lifts spirits and brightens moods. To mark the brand’s 10th anniversary of transforming everyday style with bold, vibrant prints, she moved the company to its new LDJ Starquarters, a six-story creative hub in Milan’s trendy Naviglio district. The space houses the brand’s operations and serves as a gathering place for its community, topped by the Galactic Deck—a sprawling rooftop with panoramic city views where fans come together for meditation, healing sessions, and yoga, often accompanied by a custom-made gong. Crafted with meteorite fragments and forged in a fire ceremony on Mount Etna, the gong adds a mystical touch to the experience. For Martin, the possibilities are endless—quite literally.
Prints may be the heart of La DoubleJ—the bold, energetic core of every collection—but even Martin sometimes finds them overwhelming. “I opened my closet recently and thought, ‘How do I even dress with all these patterns?’” she joked. So she’s dialed it back (just a little), introducing solid basics (always with a playful twist), crisp white shirts (“we have seven in the collection!”), textured denim (“jacquard, of course”), and touches of sleek black.
The prints themselves have evolved too—motifs are larger, giving designs more breathing room. The visual energy is softer, but the trippy, mystical vibe remains. Take the “Fantastic Creatures” capsule, a dreamy loungewear collaboration with surrealist Ecuadorian artist Beto Val. It’s a kaleidoscopic mix of flora and fauna: flamingos morphing into hollyhocks, leafy parrots with beak-shaped foliage, seashells spiraling into insect-flowers, and a surreal helicopter-bird-plant hybrid that defies nature and reason. Part spiritual journey, part playful escape—pure La DoubleJ.
