From the very beginning, William Fan has always marched to the beat of his own drum. After last season’s spectacular 10th-anniversary show—an event so grand it seemed impossible to top—the designer decided it was time to slow down.
“I knew right away I couldn’t follow up that show with another big production. I needed to let everything settle, take a breath, and focus on the small things. That’s how this collection came to life,” Fan explained.
For Spring 2026, he turned his attention to leisure—or, more accurately, taking time. The collection rewarded close inspection, revealing subtle new twists on his signature silhouettes. Bags crafted from knotted ceramic beads and unexpected cuts invited a second look. To match the relaxed pace of the evening, guests were treated to ice cream and encouraged to send postcards to loved ones.
Fan’s summer collection feels surprisingly light—both in weight and mood—featuring custom pleats, hidden smiley faces, and fresh, vibrant colors (by Berlin’s standards, at least). As always, he collaborated with his tight-knit community, including his parents, who usually beam from the front row.
“I never really saw my parents in a leisure setting—they were always working,” he shared. “This collection, all about doing nothing, felt like a fitting tribute to them. Now that they’re retired, they can finally enjoy their free time.”
And as for what’s next? A long family vacation is in the works.
