“I was really thinking about taking a beta-blocker before this interview,” Dan Levy admits to guest hosts Hannah Jackson and Margaux Anbouba on today’s episode of The Run-Through. “The first time I ever took one was about an hour and a half before hosting the Emmys.” Fortunately for this generally anxious group, the pressure in Vogue’s podcast studio was far less intense.
Levy joined the show to talk about the April 9th release of Big Mistakes, his new Netflix comedy series co-created with Rachel Sennott. The two met while working on The Idol, wrote the pilot together, “and the rest is history!” Much like Schitt’s Creek before it, Big Mistakes is a family story—but this time, it follows two siblings who accidentally get involved in organized crime. “Committing to an idea you’re excited to tell in a long-form series is a big deal,” Levy says. “And I have this completely irrational fear of being blackmailed into organized crime.”
Levy’s personal style also comes up in conversation. It’s changed a lot since his teenage years in Toronto, when shopping at Club Monaco was the go-to. These days, he counts people like Jonathan Anderson and Michael Rider among his close friends.
