Zara is currently a leading name in fashion news, and the announcements keep coming. The brand has just revealed its latest collaborator: Willy Chavarria, known for his New York Fashion Week presence. While John Galliano reinterprets Zara’s archives for a September launch, Chavarria will release a collection of clothing, jewelry, and accessories for both men and women, available starting March 26.

“This collaboration allows me to share the elevated aspects of my brand vision with a wider, more democratic audience,” Chavarria told Vogue. Titled Vatísmo—the superlative form of “vato,” a Chicano term celebrating friendship, camaraderie, love, community pride, and roots—the collaboration reflects the designer’s distinctive spirit.

“It’s also a way for people to become more familiar with my vision for womenswear,” he added. That vision has previously been expressed through vibrant runway shows, like his recent presentation at the Dojo de Paris, set against a recreated New York City intersection.

For Zara, Chavarria drew inspiration from a dramatic narrative: “I imagined a mansion in Mexico City where a family with intense, dramatic issues lived. I blended American TV dramas from the 1980s like Dallas and Dynasty with the Mexican telenovelas I grew up watching with my grandmother—incredibly chic and dramatic to the point of humor.”

The womenswear line is showcased by Christy Turlington in a campaign lensed by Glen Luchford. “I wanted us to see her as we’ve never seen her before. She is incredible in every way,” Chavarria said. Strong shoulders define the collection, seen in tailored jackets of tropical wool, patent fabrics, and leather. “I wanted to create pieces people will treasure and wear for years. The quality is very impressive,” he noted.

The collection includes new takes on his signature trousers: wide-leg with pleats for women, and slightly barreled, structured, or elasticated styles for men. Skirts also feature prominently, from a rust-hued midi to acid-washed denim and tailored versions. Longline shorts, available for both men and women, are set to become a summer staple.

Florals, lace inserts, and gem-adorned gold jewelry add glamour, designed to be paired with everyday basics like rose-embroidered bodysuits, slogan tees, and ribbed socks. For men, logo-stamped minishorts and “Chavarria” slogan tees offer a playful, club-like vibe he calls “Nueva York.”

With a growing following, this Zara collaboration is sure to attract even more admirers. The Willy Chavarria for Zara collection launches on Zara.com and in stores on March 26.
