From November 22 to December 7, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Grand-Bassam in Côte d’Ivoire is hosting the fourth Africa Foto Fair (AFF), founded by Ethiopian photographer Aïda Muluneh. The fair spans multiple locations—La Maison de l’Art, ESMA, INSAAC, and Côte d’Ivoire Tourisme—and offers a diverse public program including workshops, talks, film screenings, discussions, and activities for young people and the wider community.

The event kicked off with “Gaze Eternal: Ethiopia Past and Becoming,” a lively showcase of Ethiopian photography from archives and contemporary artists, along with screenings and sound installations at the Institut Français.

Until December 7, visitors can enjoy “Lines of Sight: Africa Now,” featuring a solo exhibition by Algerian photographer Ferhat Bouda at La Maison de l’Art, plus an outdoor display in the garden of La Maison d’Aunty Rosa with works by over 70 artists. Beyond this, Africa Foto Fair includes installations by artists such as Lucas Foglia’s “Constant Bloom,” Ana Amado’s “La superficie del tiempo,” Marta Soul’s “En Escena,” Julia Llerena’s site-specific piece, and an exhibition spotlighting emerging Ivorian photographers from the Laurenceairlines creative network.

From November 27 to December 14, Galerie Studer in Cocody will offer limited-edition prints for sale by both Ivorian and international photographers. The festival wraps up with the opening of the Aïda Muluneh Center, a creative studio and shop focused on photography-inspired products and contemporary African design.

With participants, speakers, and educators from across the globe, Africa Foto Fair underscores its mission to nurture creativity and build connections. “We believe art and culture are vital for development,” Muluneh said. “This edition is all about forging links, involving audiences, and strengthening cultural bonds throughout Africa and beyond.”
