Why go here?
Cheval Blanc needs no introduction for spa lovers. The French luxury hotel group, with six locations worldwide, is renowned for its spas developed in collaboration with iconic beauty houses like Guerlain and Dior—meaning world-class treatments are always on offer.

This St. Barth outpost is particularly enticing this year after a five-month renovation completed in November 2024, in partnership with Guerlain and Parisian architect Isabelle Stanislas. Already a secluded tropical sanctuary, the spa now pays even greater homage to the island’s natural beauty. The redesign features soothing materials like raffia and bleached larch, along with new nature-inspired therapies. “Some treatments were created exclusively for Cheval Blanc St. Barth, drawing inspiration from the island’s surroundings,” says general manager Christelle Hilpron.

What’s the vibe?
Though the hotel sits beachfront, the spa’s tropical garden setting feels lush and serene. Just walking there is relaxing—especially when you encounter turtles along the palm-lined path, a gentle reminder to slow down.

Inside, the first thing you’ll notice is the delicate fragrance. Guerlain, celebrated for its perfumes (Napoleon III’s official perfumer, no less), expanded its scent offerings during the renovation. The boutique is elegantly minimal, with a gallery-like layout, while the spa itself—focused on treatments rather than traditional amenities like saunas—is equally refined. The new boudoir and five treatment rooms (including one for couples) feature calming neutrals, with gold-topped bottles adding a touch of glamour.

The history?
Originally opened in 1991 as Hotel St-Barth Isle de France, the property was acquired by LVMH in 2014 and rebranded as Cheval Blanc St. Barth, introducing the exclusive Guerlain spa.

What should you try?
Don’t miss the Caribbean Idyll massage, a new treatment highlighting Guerlain’s floral Idylle fragrance (white lilacs, jasmine, peonies). Midway through, my therapist had me sit up to inhale the scent—an unexpected but deeply relaxing pause.

Beyond scents, my favorite experience was Yoga Reverie, held in the tropical pavilion. Created by Parisian yoga instructor Nicolas Legrez (now a sought-after teacher in St. Barth), it blends yoga nidra (guided meditation) and massage. I’m not sure what magic he worked, but I woke up feeling renewed.I woke up feeling refreshed and clear-headed, as if the birds were singing just for me.

How eco-friendly is it?
Guerlain is deeply committed to protecting bees. “The Abeille Royale line is made with ingredients sourced from protected beehives,” explains Hilpron.

What else should you know?
Unless you’re flying private, the easiest way to reach St. Barth is with Tradewind, which offers flights from San Juan, Antigua, Anguilla, and St. Thomas, complete with VIP lounges.

And since we’re on the topic of fragrance, don’t miss Cheval Blanc St. Barth’s signature scent, Tropical Chic—created exclusively for the resort by Guerlain. It blends ylang-ylang, sandalwood, white flowers, and pineapple. Take home a souvenir from your room—I’m burning a Tropical Chic candle right now, and it instantly transports me back.

Who can visit?
Everyone. As the only spa on St. Barth offering Guerlain treatments, it’s just as popular with locals and guests from other hotels as it is with Cheval Blanc visitors.
