“I just bought a tripod,” Victoria Beckham—fashion designer, beauty brand founder, and former Spice Girl—tells me over the phone. “Until recently, I was holding the camera in one hand while doing my makeup with the other. People kept asking why I only showed one side of my face. I thought, ‘Give me a break!’” she laughs. “But I took the hint and got myself a tripod.”

We’re talking about the newest addition to her Victoria Beckham Beauty line: brushes. You might assume the brand already offered tools—and in a way, it does. The Satin Kajal eyeliners, which sell every 30 seconds, have dual ends—one for color, one for smudging. The Contour Stylus comes in a slim design meant to be used like a crayon, then blended with fingers or brushes. The Concealer Pen, launching in September 2024, has a short, flat brush tip. But a standalone set of brushes is a first. “I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted in brushes that I couldn’t find,” Beckham says.

I push her—surely Beckham, who’s spent countless hours in top makeup artists’ chairs, has tried every brush out there. What was missing? “I always focus on the ‘why,’ and these brushes earned their place in the collection. They’re inspired by calligraphy pens,” she explains, highlighting the precision behind each of the nine brushes. And they are precise. Most are single-ended, designed for buffing, dusting, and blending. Two are double-ended—and when I ask Victoria to pick her favorite, she chooses one of those. “I love the Sculpt & Blend because it’s so versatile. I use it for contouring and my eyes.”

Known for her perfectionism, Beckham would have scrapped the brushes if they weren’t flawless. She even canceled the original Contour Stylus because it wasn’t as thin and precise as she envisioned—it was initially housed in the same component as the Cheeky Posh Blush. “I called and said, ‘Listen, I’m sorry, but we have to stop.’ I’m hard to please,” she admits. “I’m a perfectionist, and that’s a good thing. When I’m happy, it means we’re ready to launch.”
