Add “Hollywood bombshell ballgown” to the must-have press tour wardrobe list, thanks to Sydney Sweeney.
The actress is currently promoting her upcoming film Echo Valley, where she stars alongside Julianne Moore. In this psychological thriller, Sweeney plays Claire, Moore’s troubled, drug-addicted daughter, exploring how far a mother will go for her child.
“My character Claire isn’t the best daughter—she puts her mom through a lot,” Sweeney told Good Morning America. She explained that Claire “shows up at her mother’s doorstep covered in blood.”
For last night’s premiere, Sweeney brought the drama in a different way, wearing a custom scarlet-red Vera Wang ballgown to the screening.
The striking Italian silk gown featured a flared neckline and a hand-draped peplum. Styled by Molly Dickson, Sweeney kept accessories minimal with diamond Kwiat stud earrings, while hairstylist Glen Oropeza gave her loose, textured waves for a soft contrast.
She walked the red carpet with co-stars Julianne Moore and Kyle MacLachlan, who play her parents in the film. Later, she swapped the voluminous gown for a sleek, strapless corset dress in the same bold red, paired with matching stiletto pumps.
While method dressing on press tours isn’t as literal as it once was, Sweeney and Dickson cleverly played with the idea of the “scarlet woman” through these dramatic crimson looks. Maybe it’s a stretch, but it works—fiery red for a rising thriller star.
Sweeney and Dickson have mastered the art of a dynamic press tour wardrobe. This week alone, she’s worn nautical-inspired Coperni, a polished Burberry trench dress, a daring pantsless suit-and-tie look from Jean Paul Gaultier’s 2005 collection, and sleek power suits by Oscar de la Renta. She’s clearly making a statement.
