As the 2025 Met Gala, titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” approaches, one question is on everyone’s mind: Will Rihanna attend?

It’s a fair question! While Rihanna hasn’t attended since the “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” gala in 2023, her partner—and recent cover star—A$AP Rocky will co-chair this year’s event alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour.

We can’t say for sure if she’ll be there, but one thing’s certain: Rihanna knows how to make an entrance at the Met Gala. She’s mastered the art over her 10 appearances. Her debut was at the 2007 “Poiret: King of Fashion” gala, where she wore a white Georges Chakra dress with silver embellishments, black mesh gloves, and a red rose as an accent. From there, she delivered a string of unforgettable looks.

In 2015, for “China: Through the Looking Glass,” she stole the show in a dramatic canary yellow cape by Guo Pei—a couture masterpiece that took two years to make (and required multiple people to carry). It remains one of the most iconic looks ever seen on the Met’s grand staircase.

Rihanna has a knack for perfectly honoring the gala’s theme. In 2017, when the exhibit celebrated Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, she wore an architectural floral gown that looked like it belonged in the museum itself.

And let’s not forget her turn as co-chair in 2018 for “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” She stunned in a papal-inspired ensemble by John Galliano, complete with a jeweled mitre hat—earning her the nickname “Pope Rihanna.” (She could definitely give Rocky some hosting tips.)

After making headlines in 2022 and 2023, we can only imagine what she has planned for 2025. Until then, let’s revisit some of her most legendary Met Gala looks.

### 2009: “The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion”
While others played it safe, Rihanna… (Text cuts off—likely referencing her bold style choices.)For the 2009 Met Gala, Rihanna embraced menswear, wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana suit with puffed sleeves, black driving gloves, and cropped cigarette pants. Always ahead of the curve, her sleek suiting would fit right in with the 2025 Met theme, “Tailored for You.”

In 2007, at her first Met Gala, Rihanna chose a white empire-waist Georges Chakra dress adorned with rhinestones. True to her bold style, she paired it with black fishnet gloves and plenty of diamond jewelry.
