The 78th Cannes Film Festival began this week with a glamorous opening ceremony hosted by Laurent Lafitte. Celebrities brought their fashion A-game to the red carpet, creatively interpreting the updated dress code. Bella Hadid turned heads in a daring Saint Laurent gown with a high slit by Anthony Vaccarello, while Irina Shayk showcased multiple looks – from a dramatic Armani Privé gown to vintage Saint Laurent. Julia Garner kept it chic in Gucci.
The festival jury included notable names like Hong Sang-soo, Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, Alba Rohrwacher, Dieudo Hamadi, Payal Kapadia, Leïla Slimani, and Carlos Reygadas. Leading the panel was jury president Juliette Binoche. Earlier in the day, the actress had sported a sunny Jacquemus outfit perfect for the French Riviera, but for the ceremony she chose an exquisite custom Dior creation.
Binoche’s Dior gown featured an off-white silk crepe top with an elegantly draped hood, paired with matching trousers. This haute couture masterpiece by Maria Grazia Chiuri showcased Dior’s exceptional craftsmanship, requiring two artisans and over 200 hours of meticulous work to complete.
