Helena Christensen is careful about avoiding sun damage. “I try to be really disciplined about protecting my skin because I love being outdoors,” she shares while revealing her beauty routine from a warm bathroom in the Bahamas. Still, the Danish model admits: “I love when skin looks like it’s been lightly touched by the sun.” In just six minutes, she uses her favorite products to create a makeup look that captures that exotic, beachy glow—without any actual sun exposure.
First, she applies Westman Atelier’s Sun Tone Bronzing Drops over sunscreen for a natural warmth. “You only need a little to get that glow,” she says. Even though she already looks radiant, the 56-year-old spends another five minutes enhancing her vacation-ready look.
She adds a soft pink cream blush from Goop, then sweeps a shimmering Hourglass eyeshadow over Merit’s Flush Balm for a subtle sparkle. “I love using something that just enhances the natural shadows on my eyelids,” she explains.
After setting her makeup with a fan in the Bahamian heat, Christensen admits where her minimal-makeup approach ends. She finishes with a bold hibiscus-red lipstick from Dries Van Noten, confessing: “I like natural lips, but I adore red lips… The no-makeup look just went out the window.”
A quick tousle of her windblown hair and a dab of Strangelove perfume oil complete the look. “This is my sexy island vibe,” she says with a smile before heading back to the beach.
