Even though it was just the first day of Copenhagen Fashion Week, Caroline Bille Brahe’s Caro Editions show was easily the most joyful event of the week. Gray skies couldn’t dampen the mood—smiles, cheers, and dancing to an incredible soundtrack (featuring Bikini Kill, Peaches, Yoko Ono, Doechii, JT, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and even a twist on Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March”) set the tone.
The show recreated Caroline’s (formerly Brasch Nielsen) 2018 wedding to Frederik Bille Brahe, which was famously a huge celebration. (Cecilie Bahnsen, who designed the bride and bridesmaids’ dresses, recalls hundreds of guests, including much of Copenhagen’s creative scene.) Just like the original wedding, today’s guests enjoyed a “ceremony” under a bridge, sipped pink champagne, and were then whisked away by boat—along with the still-dressed models—to The Apollo (one of Frederik’s restaurants) to keep the party going. La Glace, the bakery behind the couple’s wedding cake, even recreated a four-tiered masterpiece for the occasion. Back in 2018, it rained heavily; today, just a light drizzle seemed to applaud how the brand turned a runway show into a vibrant, unforgettable celebration of fashion and community.
True to the theme, the collection featured actual bridal looks, though most pieces were designed with wedding guests in mind. The designer described the vibe as “preppy,” but the clothes were anything but traditional—think Grace Kelly-esque scarf-wrapped heads mixed with Alexis Carrington-worthy shoulder pads and hats. Mulberry provided hats customized by Bille Brahe, along with one-of-a-kind vintage bags available for purchase after the show. One standout tote featured oversized bows made from Mulberry’s signature plaid lining fabric—some of which Bille Brahe also used for a chic corduroy-trimmed barn jacket, a Caro Editions staple. (Bow-adorned sneakers, a collaboration with New Balance, added another playful touch.)
“The whole collection is silks, laces, sequins, and polka dots,” Bille Brahe explained during a walk-through. Some fabrics were sourced from exclusive Parisian design houses, with raw silk taking center stage—especially in Caro’s signature bow-tied pants, paired with sharp little jackets featuring bold lapels. Playful short dresses exuded youthful energy, while sleek minis brought a more sensual edge. The casting, which included couples and a mother-daughters trio, reinforced that Caro Editions is truly a family affair, both on and off the runway.
