Just when you thought it was over, Zendaya is back on the press tour circuit—but not in the way you’d expect.
The actor, whose film The Odyssey came out this week and whose next movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, follows shortly after, has started promoting the latter. Her latest look defies both the current New York heatwave and what we’ve come to expect from her style so far—less of the fantastical Marvel or Bronze Age vibes, and more Danny Zuko.
Yesterday, Zendaya stepped out in New York in a head-to-toe leather outfit, heatwave be damned: a shiny, boxy-shouldered blazer and gathered-leg, pooling cigarette pants, paired with pointed pumps and a white t-shirt. Her jewelry, of course, included the Jessica McCormack engagement ring from her husband and Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland, along with her wedding band.
She also debuted a new hairstyle: a wavy, side-swept bob. This follows her cropped and styled bixie cut and the extra-long, flowing hair extensions she wore in Greek Goddess-style braids.

It’s a sharp departure from the ethereal, Athena-like looks Zendaya wore during the The Odyssey promotion, where stylist Law Roach scoured archives for sculptural McQueen-era Givenchy headpieces and dressed her in custom drapey Jacquemus and angel-winged Matières Fécales. A Christian Louboutin pump is the only carryover in an otherwise delightfully surprising style run.
