There’s a buzz in the air on the last day of Paris Fashion Week, as editors think about returning to normal life after nearly a month of press dinners, parties, and seating politics. Saoirse Ronan, blissfully unaware of the industry’s collective exhaustion and only worried about her own (nonexistent) dark circles, took the Eurostar to Paris just for the Louis Vuitton show.

A fixture in Nicolas Ghesquière’s front rows since becoming a house ambassador in January 2024, the shows give her a chance to catch up with “the girls” (“whenever I’m near Jennifer Connelly, that’s nice”), stock up on knitwear at Merci, and visit the Musée Rodin for a break from her usual entertainment (The Diplomat on screen; The Guardian’s Black Box podcast in her headphones).

“I actually texted Lily [Collins] before I came and asked, ‘Where should I go?’ Saoirse in Paris is the new Netflix series,” she jokes, while getting hair and makeup done at The Ritz before heading to the Louvre for Ghesquière’s “ergonomic”-themed spring 2027 show. Refreshingly down to earth, she jumps from concealer (Nars’s Creamy Radiant version, to hide the under-eye pigmentation she inherited from her mam) to dog poo bags (her only other handbag essential) to her habit of stealing husband Jack Lowden’s clothes (it doesn’t matter, because he takes her baseball caps). Danielle Goldberg (also a delight, moving around the suite in loose black pieces that could be Marais vintage finds but are most likely from The Row) laughs affectionately when Saoirse sums up her style mantra as “denim, knitwear and earthy.”

I’ve never heard that last word used to describe a star’s style, I tell her. But it’s actually spot on. “In general, what I find most comfortable is what I wear when I’m at home in Ireland or Scotland,” she says, those piercing blue eyes bringing to mind brisk walks in the countryside. “It’s all about knitwear for me.” That’s why she and Goldberg chose an autumnal retro-style jumper and a leather-paneled miniskirt for the Vuitton show: “Nicolas is very invested in the person and the personal—he really wants you to feel your personal best.”

While it’s hard to pick a favorite LV moment over the years (“every look has been its own thing, but whatever the time or place, there’s been a lot of attention to make me feel good”), Ghesquière will no doubt get a call from Goldberg about promo for Ronan’s upcoming projects, not least Three Incestuous Sisters, co-starring Jessie Buckley and Dakota Johnson. The spring 2027 collection was a great starting point for this homebody who still looks perfectly at home in the fashion circus.
