Sea NY launched in New York in 2006, a time when the world was on the brink of a digital revolution. Two years earlier, an unknown Harvard undergraduate had launched a new social networking site called TheFacebook, and the e-commerce platform Net-a-Porter turned a profit for the first time that same year. The first iPhone would be released in the US a year later. Fast forward seven years and 4,000 miles away, the Parisian brand Sézane was born in the year “selfie” was added to the dictionary.

But even as the world became captivated by novelty, both Sézane and Sea NY stayed true to designs that carry “a sense of history and intention,” as Sézane’s founder, Morgane Sézalory, puts it. This consistency, along with a deep understanding of brand building and customer loyalty, allowed both companies to thrive where many others failed. It’s also what made their design collaborations in 2018 and 2023 sellout successes.

The two labels have now teamed up for a third collection, launching on January 18, which continues in a similar spirit. It blends Sézane’s feminine silhouettes with Sea NY’s signature patchwork and embroidery, featuring vintage-inspired, prairie-style dresses, quilted jackets with wide lapels, and shirts with crochet details. While many fashion collaborations today are engineered to generate hype, this partnership is clearly built with fans—and there are many—in mind.

“I think people today are looking for sincerity and quality, and for brands that stand for something beyond constant novelty and truly listen to their customers,” Sézalory explains. “At both Sea and Sézane, we’re deeply rooted in craftsmanship and in creating pieces designed to be worn, loved, and kept. We build wardrobes thoughtfully, focusing on how each piece can be refined over time.”

Though designed to exist outside the trend cycle, the collection arrives on the heels of 2025—a year that saw the return of boho style and a continued obsession with the “cottagecore” aesthetic inspired by Little House on the Prairie. What’s behind this urge to bring bucolic charm to city streets? “I think this return to romanticism has been building for a while and will continue into 2026 and beyond,” Sézalory says. “People are drawn to softness, femininity, and delicate, handcrafted details—to things that feel more real, more human. It’s an aesthetic that speaks to a desire for slowness, connection, and a life lived a little more offline.”

The collection will undoubtedly boost Sézane’s already significant presence in the US—the brand now has eight permanent stores there—and the campaign was shot in New York’s Nolita neighborhood, home to its first store outside Paris. Meanwhile, the more accessible price points will likely introduce Sea NY’s premium designs to a wider, possibly younger, audience.

“We received such a warm welcome from the US community, and New York has always been a huge source of inspiration for us,” Sézalory reflects. “Parisian style is often about simplicity, with a strong focus on cut, quality, materials, and those little details, whereas New York can feel freer and more expressive, with bolder silhouettes and an instinctive approach to getting dressed. What I love is how these two energies naturally complement each other. But there’s no single way to define either city, and that’s what makes it so interesting.”Openness is what keeps things interesting.
