Twelve years after launching Fear of God, Jerry Lorenzo is no stranger to recognition. On Monday night, he added another honor to his collection: the 2025 CFDA Innovation Award.
“I see it as encouragement that I’m on the right track and doing what I’m meant to do,” Lorenzo shared with Nicole Phelps on Tuesday’s episode of The Run-Through with Vogue.
When Lorenzo started Fear of God, his goal was to create luxury streetwear that reflected his personal vision and background. He soon connected with Virgil Abloh, who was just beginning Pyrex Vision—the brand now known as Off-White—and shared a similar creative outlook.
Since then, Lorenzo, who taught himself design, has continuously improved his fabrics, materials, and creative approach. His business has flourished along the way: he recently brought on Bastien Daguzan, the former CEO of Jacquemus; expanded into women’s clothing; and plans to open Fear of God’s first retail stores in New York and Los Angeles next year.
Beyond these achievements, Lorenzo told Phelps that his ultimate goal is peace and lasting impact. “I want the brand to still be here in 50 to 100 years.” At this pace, that seems entirely possible.
