He’s back! Nicola Brognano, celebrated for his Y2K-era revival at Blumarine from 2020 to 2023, has been named creative director of premium denim label 7 For All Mankind, the brand announced today.

Brognano will present his debut runway collection at New York Fashion Week in February 2026. This will mark the brand’s first-ever fashion show, highlighting its ambitions to compete at a higher level in fashion with a recognized designer leading the way.

“As I join this exciting and inspiring brand, my aim is to create collections that honor the 7 For All Mankind DNA, while bringing a confident ease and a contemporary attitude—one that complements the brand’s denim heritage,” Brognano said in a statement.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2000, 7 For All Mankind helped pioneer premium denim, shifting denim from utilitarian workwear toward fashion-forward styles retailing between $200 and $300. Known affectionately as “Sevens,” the brand arguably hit its cultural peak in the 2000s, with its strong Y2K aesthetic worn by celebrities from Selena Gomez to Prince Harry.

After his tenure at Blumarine—defined by low-rise denim and signature butterfly tops—Brognano is well-positioned to reinterpret 7 For All Mankind’s Y2K roots for a new generation. Since leaving Blumarine in 2023, he has continued working on his namesake label, Brognano, which he launched a decade ago and had paused to focus on the Italian house. Last year, he released a 16-piece capsule collection supported by the Shanghai-based retail platform Envision.

Despite its strong performance and cultural relevance in the 2000s, 7 For All Mankind has faced commercial challenges over its 25-year history, changing ownership multiple times. The brand was bought by VF Corp in 2007 for $775 million, then sold along with sister brands Splendid and Ella Moss to current owner Delta Galil Industries for $120 million in 2016.

Under Delta Galil, 7 For All Mankind has been working on a turnaround over the past decade, focusing on category expansion and growing its global retail presence. In the last two years, the brand has invested in accessories and non-denim categories such as leather jackets and knitwear.

While denim remains central, 7 For All Mankind’s global president, Sacha Gomez de Zamora, wants Brognano to broaden the brand’s horizons. “Nicola will help us define a richer, more cohesive brand universe that extends beyond denim and strengthens our cultural relevance,” he said.

“We are delighted to welcome Nicola to our team,” de Zamora added. “His design talent and youthful perspective will be key in building a creative ecosystem that supports our evolution into a fashion brand rooted in denim innovation.”
