“I love to work out—it’s my therapy,” Kim Kardashian shared with Vogue during a phone call this weekend. Longtime followers of the Kardashian shows know that the second-eldest sister has always been serious about fitness. On her current Hulu series, The Kardashians, viewers often see the star and business mogul fitting in intense workouts with her sisters, usually led by a top-tier trainer. Given Kardashian’s well-known passion for health and wellness, it was only a matter of time before she expanded her Skims brand into activewear.
Today, Kardashian officially launches NikeSkims, a partnership with Nike focused entirely on athletic apparel. The debut collection, available starting September 26 on both the Nike and Skims websites, includes performance-oriented pieces like sports bras, hoodies, and leggings designed to sculpt the body. “To me, it just made sense,” Kardashian says of the collaboration. “Skims is very body-focused—we offer swimwear, loungewear, and shapewear—so activewear was the natural next step. Our dream was to work with Nike. Their legacy, innovation, and athlete insights perfectly complement Skims’ dedication to celebrating the female form.”

Kardashian aimed to bring a fresh perspective to Nike’s fabrics. While Nike excels at moisture-wicking materials and comfortable stretch, Skims contributed sleek, design-forward details. “We know what they do well, and they know what we do well,” Kardashian explains. “We wanted to infuse our DNA into activewear. Our style lines are clean and simple, true to the Skims aesthetic, with features like square necks and thinner straps.”
The result is a collection that spans seven different lines and includes 58 silhouettes, offering over 10,000 mix-and-match options. All items come in Skims’ signature neutral shades and are designed to transition seamlessly from the gym to everyday wear. Sizes range from XXS to 4X, with prices from $38 to $148. “I really wanted to make sure there was something for everyone,” Kardashian notes. “Both Skims and Nike prioritize inclusive sizing, so we aimed for a broad range where everyone can feel confident.”

The seven collections cater to various preferences: the Matte line offers 21 styles with mid-level compression; the Shine collection includes 11 stretchy pieces with a subtle sheen; and the Airy line features breathable, mesh-inspired knits. Other options include the Vintage Seamless collection, with a worn-in, vintage feel, and the Matte Tricot line, offering minimal, track-inspired designs. Kardashian emphasized creating versatile pieces for busy lifestyles. “You can wear some items out at night and look great, or choose super casual options just for working out,” she says. “I wanted people to feel like there’s something for every need.”
The debut campaign, “Bodies at Work,” directed by Janicza Bravo, highlights this diversity by featuring over 50 athletes from Nike’s roster, including Serena Williams, Chloe Kim, Sha’Carri Richardson, Jordan Chiles, and Madisen Skinner. They showcase a range of pieces, from zip-up hoodies to stretchy shorts. “I loveAmerican gymnast Jordan Chiles praises the pieces, saying, “I love the quality, how it moves with me, and supports me in all the right places. I feel sleek, comfortable, and completely myself.” Snowboarding pro Chloe King adds, “You can really tell NikeSkims is made for women—that’s the biggest takeaway for me.”
With the official launch this Friday, consumers and Kardashian fans will soon be able to dress like their favorite athletes. Until then, Kardashian shares more about the inspiration behind the brand, her go-to workout, playlist, and what she wears to the gym.
Vogue: What made you excited about entering the athletic space?
Kim Kardashian: We’ve wanted to get into Skims Sport for a while—it felt like an important next step. I work out every day, and so does everyone I know. It was motivating to see Nike’s unique innovations and technologies. Whenever I partner with someone, the product has to inspire me, and I want other women to feel motivated to work out and wear these pieces. Our goal was to create clothes that make you feel great about yourself.
Vogue: You could have done a one-time collaboration with Nike. Why create a new brand instead?
Kim: We wanted to build a whole new brand together to ensure a lasting partnership where we both contribute equally to innovation and product development. Collaborations are fun, but I wanted this to be a long-term commitment—something we can grow together. With Nike’s global reach, I want people everywhere to experience NikeSkims. That’s not something we could achieve with just one collection.
Vogue: Since you work out daily, what details were important to include in the collection?
Kim: I always test for things like cellulite visibility during fittings—I have specific requirements, like fabric thickness, to make sure everything stays in place. I also didn’t want anything difficult to put on. Shapewear can sometimes feel restrictive, but we’ve worked hard to keep it comfortable. I wanted the activewear to feel the same. Chloe Kim tried it recently and called me saying, “I can’t believe I don’t need to tailor anything!” I told her, “That’s Skims for you.”
Vogue: What do you personally like to wear when working out? Have you tested any pieces from the line?
Kim: I always want to feel comfortable and confident at the gym—it motivates me to go more. I used to stick to leggings and a sports bra, but now I love layering. I’m obsessed with our leggings and bras, and I’ve started wearing tops like our thin turtleneck over a sports bra, sometimes even adding a hoodie. Or I’ll pair leggings with baggy shorts. There are so many ways to mix and match these pieces. Someone once told me that if you have the right basics in your closet, you don’t need a stylist—everything just works. If you curate your collection well, you’ll always look good.I feel like that’s what this collection is. You were one of the people who helped make athleisure fashionable, like when you brought bike shorts back. Was that on your mind when you were designing these pieces?
I definitely wanted clothes that I could wear to meetings. Sometimes I don’t have time to change during the day. I’ll wake up, put on workout clothes, take my kids to school, come back, exercise, and then go straight into a meeting. I want to look cute and presentable while doing it all—and with these pieces, you can.
What are you into for workouts right now? What does your routine look like?
I love weightlifting, so I do a lot of weights. I’ve had some back issues, so I’ve adjusted my workouts, but I still focus on lower body to stay toned. I do a few days of upper body work too. I usually pick one body part to focus on each day. My workouts last about an hour and a half, including weights, stretching, and a little cardio. I also love Pilates and try to include it at least once a week—if I don’t, I can feel it in my back. I really need that lengthening and stretching.
Are you a morning or evening workout person?
Morning. I can just turn on music and get it done. Although, I’m one of those annoying people who checks my phone during workouts and replies to messages. I’m sure it drives my trainer crazy.
What’s on your workout playlist these days?
Sometimes I just put on Justin Bieber Radio. It’s all hits!
Have you ever tried a workout and thought, “This isn’t for me”?
Anything involving dance. And I know I should try hot yoga, but I did it once and fell asleep. The mood was so calm, and when you lie down and close your eyes… I can fall asleep anywhere, so if you put me in that position, I will.
There are so many amazing Olympians in your campaign. Is there a sport you think you could be good at if you trained for it?
I’m actually a pretty good soccer player—people might not know that, but I played my whole life. I wouldn’t say I could be an Olympic soccer player, but I did play as a kid. I remember in fourth grade, I did a report on the Olympics with my stepdad about the decathlon. They asked which event I’d choose, and I think I’d pick a running sport. I’m a better runner than people might expect. Actually, scratch that—I’d compete in the Winter Olympics for skiing. Skiing is my thing.
What was the most inspiring or surprising thing you learned from the athletes you worked with on the campaign?
I loved watching them in action. Everyone did a different workout for the campaign, and they all chose something they excel at and look good doing. It was great to see their choices and strengths. I admire women who know what they want, and everyone was so confident.
Do you have any dream athletes you’d like to see wearing your pieces in the future?
I think everyone is an athlete in their own way. Being a mom is a sport, no matter what you do. I’d also love to see WNBA players in our clothes—I’m a huge fan. They would look amazing. We should outfit a whole team.
Last question, and it’s totally unrelated, but we have to ask about your new Ryan Murphy series, All’s Fair, premiering in November. What can you tell us about it?
I can’t wait for everyone to see it. I loved it—it’s so crazy. The whole cast is in a group chat, and we were just talking the other day. It’s hard to explain, but it just works. You’d think our personalities would clash, but on-screen, we really clicked. I believe viewers will be pleasantly surprised by the chemistry between all of us. I also love the fashion in the show—it’s very high-fashion. We even got to use some incredible Jean Paul Gaultier pieces from the ’90s archives, which was amazing. I’m so excited to have had the chance to work with so many talented people.
