At the 2025 Met Gala, Priyanka Chopra stunned in a 241.06-carat emerald from Bulgari’s new Polychroma collection, unveiled last night in Sicily. The 250-piece collection features 60 ultra-luxurious items—dubbed “millionaire pieces” by the brand—including high jewelry, watches priced over a million euros, and jeweled bags designed by Mary Katrantzou (a white gold clutch adorned with diamonds and a Roman coin had already sold by cocktail hour). The launch also introduced three exclusive fragrances in bottles crafted from Murano glass, diamonds, and precious gemstones.
Staying true to its reputation for vibrant jewelry, Bulgari incorporated 56 different gemstones in both fresh designs and modern takes on classic styles. The collection highlights five extraordinary statement pieces, building on the success of last year’s €40 million seven-diamond necklace. High-profile clients got first dibs, and within hours, one of the showstopping “splash necklaces”—named for its diamond waterfall effect—had already found a buyer.
Despite the steep price tags, Creative Director Lucia Silvestri prioritized wearability, ensuring the pieces are comfortable and versatile. Many designs are transformable, like a necklace with two pear-shaped morganite pendants that can be converted into bold earrings and a simpler necklace.
The 10-day celebration in Taormina kicked off with a two-part event: a jewelry showcase at the San Domenico Palace (famously featured in The White Lotus), followed by a dinner at the Grand Timeo Hotel and a performance at the neighboring Greco-Roman amphitheater. Bulgari collaborated with Sicilian authorities and the Italian government to secure the historic venue and contributed to restoring two other cultural sites.
Brand ambassadors took center stage—Priyanka Chopra swapped her massive emerald for a dazzling Serpenti necklace with diamonds, pink spinel, garnet, and sapphires, while Blackpink’s Lisa shimmered in white and yellow diamonds. New ambassador Viola Davis made a striking appearance in a diamond and garnet collar. Guests praised Silvestri’s creativity after the jewelry presentation and ballet performance, capping off a spectacular opening night.
