It’s official: Taylor Swift has become Jonathan Anderson’s first celebrity bride. She and her now-husband, Travis Kelce, wore matching Dior outfits for their wedding at Madison Square Garden. While many thought Swift might choose an American designer like Oscar de la Renta, it’s no surprise she went with Dior. After all, the French fashion house has a long, romantic history of dressing American celebrities, especially stars from Hollywood’s Golden Age, like Rita Hayworth and Olivia de Havilland. This is a style Swift has often embraced—one of her recent songs on The Life of a Showgirl album even pays tribute to Elizabeth Taylor. Here are other famous brides who walked down the aisle in Dior.

Rita Hayworth, 1949
When Hollywood icon Rita Hayworth married playboy Prince Aly Khan at a glamorous chateau in the South of France in 1949, she broke tradition by wearing a pale blue tea dress from Dior. It had a V-neckline, long sleeves, and a pleated skirt. Some fashion experts think Dua Lipa’s recent pale blue Schiaparelli skirt suit might have been inspired by Hayworth, especially since she also paired it with a wide-brimmed hat.

Queen Soraya of Iran, 1951
One of the most elaborate wedding dresses ever made, Queen Soraya of Iran’s Christian Dior gown used 37 yards of silver lamé, 6,000 diamonds, and 20,000 marabou feathers. It was so heavy that the train had to be cut off at midnight. The strapless dress came with a matching jacket and veil, which she wore for the ceremony and removed for the evening reception. Since the palace wasn’t heated, she also wore a white mink cape and wool socks hidden under the long skirt.

Olivia de Havilland, 1955
Gone with the Wind star Olivia de Havilland married French journalist Pierre Galante in 1955 in the French village of Yvoy-le-Marron, two years after they met at the Cannes Film Festival. To honor her French husband, the two-time Oscar winner wore Dior, choosing a tailored suit from the designer’s spring 1955 collection. De Havilland and Dior were friends, and the designer himself attended her wedding. The following year, she wore a Dior wedding dress on screen for her role in The Ambassador’s Wife.

Queen Silvia of Sweden, 1976
In the 1970s and 1980s, it became trendy for royal brides to wear Marc Bohan for Dior, starting with Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1976. Her ivory duchess silk satin dress had a high neckline, long sleeves, and a detachable 3.4-meter train, which had previously been worn by the king’s sisters, Princess Birgitta and Princess Désirée. Bohan said of the design, “I didn’t want to create anything complicated or trendy. I wanted something simple that suited the personality of the future queen.”

Princess Caroline of Monaco, 1978
As a longtime friend of Marc Bohan and a regular Dior wearer, it was an easy choice for Grace Kelly’s eldest daughter, Princess Caroline of Monaco, to wear a dress by him for her first wedding in 1978. For the civil ceremony, she wore a pale blue dress with a matching pillbox hat and gloves. For the church service, she chose a romantic, tiered ivory dress with flared sleeves made from floral eyelet lace.

Queen Noor of Jordan, 1978
1978 was a big year for Marc Bohan, who also designed Queen Noor of Jordan’s wedding dress. The story goes that the bride-to-be showed him her favorite dress—a boho design by Yves Saint Laurent—and asked him to create something similar for her wedding. The result was a simple silk crepe dress with long, bell sleeves and a high neckline, in keeping with her traditional Islamic values.

Gwen Stefani, 2002
Punk princessGwen Stefani married Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale back in 2002, wearing a Dior gown. It had a corseted top and a full skirt, designed by then-creative director John Galliano. The dress had a deconstructed feel, as if it had been pulled at in a moment of passion. Even more striking, it was hand-sprayed with magenta dye to create a vivid ombré effect, with a small bow on the bodice highlighting that detail. Stefani completed the look with her signature red lip, peroxide blonde up-do, and an antique lace veil. She loved the dress so much that she wore it for both her London and Los Angeles ceremonies, instead of choosing a different gown for each.

Miranda Kerr, 2017
Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr was the first celebrity bride dressed by Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior. She told People magazine that the dress was inspired by the one Grace Kelly wore for her wedding to Prince Rainier in 1956. “A dress that fully covers you creates a sense of purity and mystery,” Kerr said of the design brief. “I’ve had a lot of fun with fashion, and I used to be more wild, free, and bohemian. But in this period of my life, my style is more pulled back.” Her look featured a high neckline, long sleeves, and a dramatic full skirt covered in appliqué flowers. She accessorized with a pearl-encrusted headpiece made by milliner Stephen Jones.

Karlie Kloss, 2018
Supermodel Karlie Kloss wore Dior for her 2018 wedding to Jared Kushner, with the design reportedly taking over 700 hours to make. The dress had an elegant sweetheart neckline, long lace sleeves, and a full skirt, paired with a cathedral-length veil. The design drew comparisons to Grace Kelly’s wedding dress. Kloss has a close relationship with the fashion house, having starred in its campaigns and walked in its runway shows, so it’s no surprise she asked then-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri to design her wedding gown.
