First came the Symmetry, then the Slim Symmetry Pochette. A chain version of the clutch followed, and more recently, a trapezoidal top-handle bag called the Symmetry Trapeze. Savette’s signature design has gone through many changes, and now it’s being reimagined once again as the Soft Symmetry. Vogue Shopping readers get early access to shop the style a day before it launches on August 18.

In a Zoom interview, founder Amy Zurek talks about this latest version of the Symmetry’s look, describing it as “a softer, more relaxed expression that we’ve established across the brand.” While the original styles are known for their clean lines and precise proportions, with the Soft Symmetry, Zurek says she was “interested in loosening the structure, while keeping the design clear.”

Though Savette’s accessory line has grown a lot since it started in 2021, the brand is still best known for its small pochettes. “So many of our bags are structured and on the smaller side because that’s how I carry my own things,” Zurek explains. With the Soft Symmetry, she wanted to rethink that classic style and give women who carry more than just the essentials an option that looks similar but has plenty of room for daily needs. The result is a bag that works easily from morning to night, through work and whatever comes after. “It’s not a bag for just one event,” she adds.

Along with softening the shape, Zurek also tried out new types of leather and finishes. The Soft Symmetry comes in smooth calf leather with a shiny gold lock closure, and in vintage leather with matte silver hardware that gives it an intentionally aged look and a relaxed feel. It’s these thoughtful details—from the materials to the carefully chosen colors of black, cognac, and coffee brown—that Zurek is most excited about.

Balancing usefulness with the brand’s signature style, the bag has two roomy compartments and a zippered one in the middle. “It’s really easy to find your things and keep them organized,” Zurek says. “But it’s not tight or restrictive, which can sometimes happen with pockets. It’s a real bag for a real woman.” The loose hanging straps are actually the zipper pulls, Zurek adds. “It’s a small detail that gives the bag a slightly undone feel; that casualness changes its character. Otherwise, it’s quite elegant with the top handle.”

In other words, it’s made to be a true everyday bag. As Zurek puts it: “I think longevity comes from creating something that feels unique without being tied to a specific trend. The bag’s proportions are well thought out, and the design is quite simple, but it still has a strong look.”
