Summer may be over, but its lively spirit has carried into the street style outside the recent spring 2027 shows, even with the cooler weather. One example is Knicksmania, seen through the colors blue and orange. Support for the iconic New York basketball team was visible not just during New York Fashion Week but in fashion capitals around the world (good timing, too—a new NBA season starts in just a few days).

But blue and orange weren’t the only colors on the streets. A royal violet we’re calling “Prada Purple,” which made a comeback at the spring 2026 Prada show last year, is now appearing everywhere. It was the must-wear color of the season, often nicely color-blocked with other bold hues like red and green.

Beyond all that rich, vibrant color, we also saw plenty of runway ideas translate into real life. The straighter, skinnier pants seen on catwalks in recent seasons are now showing up on the streets. This season, the must-have denim style was the almost skinny jean. It has us thinking about pushing our beloved baggy styles to the back of our closets.

Meanwhile, the Matthieu Blazy and Michael Rider effects continue to shape our shopping habits. The feathery floral brooches first seen at Blazy’s Chanel debut in 2025 were the must-have accessory of the moment, and we saw many interpretations of this It item styled on showgoers. And Rider’s Celine Maison belt has officially replaced the Gucci Marmont belt as the waist-cincher of the day. The cummerbund is another Rider reinvention that has the fashion crowd loving the silk waistband cover. Another trend we’re sure to see when the weather warms up again next year? Exposed bras.
