Images by Nico Perez
Nearly two decades of photographs come together in Everything Is Nothing and Nothing Is Everything, an ongoing project and photobook by Nico Perez that is still in development. The work brings together images taken since 2010, drawing from different phases of his career and building on ideas he first explored in his 2015 photobook Momentary. New images continue to be added as the project grows.
In Perez’s words, the project has been “in the making since I first picked up a camera,” driven by the belief that “beauty lies as much in everything that we can’t see as it does in what we can see.” Whether he’s photographing people, places, or everyday moments, he describes his approach as “always looking for a connection, a truth… to the subject, to the person, to the moment, to the energy of the space in that time.” Working mostly with analog photography and hand printing, Perez sees each photograph as a physical object in its own right—one that stays deeply connected to the people and moments it came from.
