The 2026 Met Gala will celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring Costume Institute exhibition, “Costume Art.” The event will be co-chaired by a powerhouse group from entertainment, sports, and fashion: Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

This appearance will be Beyoncé’s first at the Met Gala in ten years, her last being in 2016 for the “Manus x Machina” gala. Kidman and Williams are regular attendees, both having been present at the “Superfine” gala in May 2025.

Additionally, Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala Host Committee. Other announced members include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult. More members will be named later.

Curated by Andrew Bolton, “Costume Art” will examine the relationship between clothing and the body. Organized around thematic body types—such as the Naked Body, the Pregnant Body, and the Aging Body—the exhibition will feature historical and contemporary garments and artworks from The Met’s collection. It will be the inaugural show in The Met’s new Condé M. Nast Galleries, a nearly 12,000-square-foot space next to the Great Hall.

“I wanted to focus on the centrality of the dressed body within the museum, connecting artistic representations of the body with fashion as an embodied art form,” Bolton said. “Rather than prioritizing fashion’s visual appeal, which often comes at the expense of the physical form, ‘Costume Art’ emphasizes its materiality and the inseparable connection between our bodies and our clothes.”

The Met Gala is a major annual fundraiser for the museum, with proceeds supporting the Costume Institute’s exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and operations. The “Costume Art” exhibition will be open to the public from May 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027. The evening’s formal dress code will be announced at a later date.
