If you’re thinking about fall shoes, here’s your chance to find the perfect pair with Alex Mill and Margaux’s first footwear collaboration. This three-piece collection, starting at $325, marks the initial partnership between these two New York City brands. They’ve created three designs that showcase their mutual love for easy elegance and thoughtful color.

Vogue readers can shop the entire collection a full day before it launches to the public on September 30.

The lineup includes versatile autumn styles: a flat slipper, a kitten-heel ankle boot, and a modest pointed mule. All are inspired by the minimalist ’90s aesthetic both brands often celebrate. “My everyday shoes are effortless but still have personality,” says Alexa Buckley, co-founder of Margaux. “They’re shoes I can wear from morning to night—they lift an outfit without any hassle. This collection captures that perfectly: an easy mule, a sexy heel, and the ideal boot. Each has unique details and character, but they’re also practical wardrobe staples.”

Sarah Pierson, the other co-founder of Margaux, also values versatile accessories, a quality reflected in these designs. “My most-worn and favorite shoes are both versatile and comfortable, with just enough flair to complete an outfit—like a simple sandal in summer, a tailored loafer in fall, or a western boot in winter,” she explains. “These collaborative styles follow the same principle—they’re adaptable, with a distinct take on everyday elegance.”

The shared vision between the brands made this collaboration a natural fit. “I’ve been sketching outfits my whole adult life, and I always draw the same shoe,” says Somsack Sikhounmuong, creative director of Alex Mill. “Whether it’s a slip-on, a pointed boot, or a small heel. This collection is a tribute to that idea. They’re simple shoes that will match everything in your closet. The lines and shapes are clean and effortless, and the Margaux team executed them beautifully.”

The shoes feature seasonal favorites like velvet, suede, satin, and soft calf leather, in a mix of neutrals and subtle colors—from classic black and brown to a dreamy slate blue and rich burgundy. “We aimed for the perfect balance of wearable and whimsical, with staple shades like espresso and black in beautiful nappa and suede, plus trendy blues and burgundies,” Pierson notes. “I love how the materials play off each other—the shine of satin, the depth of suede colors, the softness of nappa. It’s as much about the materials as the colors.”

When it comes to must-haves from the collection, both Margaux co-founders agree the Inga boot is a top pick. “It’s sleek, modern, and surprisingly easy to walk in,” says Buckley. “I love the tapered toe and the practical stiletto heel.” Pierson will also be wearing the Inga boot this fall. “I’m looking for the perfect bootcut jeans—not too straight, not too flared—to wear with them,” she shares, planning to pair them with a suede Nili Lotan jacket she’s had for years over a simple knit.

But they also recommend adding something with a bit of flair to the mix. “The Inga is the dream boot for Alexa and me, but the Romy in blue satin is my personal must-have,” Pierson admits. “Som, Alexa, and I all believe fashion’s joy comes from emotion—style begins with comfort but grows when you fall in love with pieces or colors and wear them with confidence. This blue satin is a perfect example; I adored it from the moment we unboxed the first samples from Spain.”

Buckley has a surprise favorite of her own.My go-to shoe is the Romy mule: the heel is the perfect height, the footbed is incredibly comfortable, and it has just the right touch of personality. I plan to wear my Romy mules with stiff, dark-wash jeans and a fitted leather jacket, like these pieces from Kallmeyer. I really admire the understated confidence that inspired this collection.
