Get ready to practice your French (and your detective skills), because season four of The White Lotus is checking into the Château de la Messardière.

According to Variety, the new season of Mike White’s hit series will film at this 19th-century castle on the French Riviera, along with other local properties and a location in Paris. Named one of Vogue‘s best hotels in the South of France, the Château is a five-star Airelles property originally built as a wedding gift from a wealthy cognac merchant to his daughter.

Set on many acres with hilltop views of Saint-Tropez Bay, the Ramatuelle vineyards, and Pampelonne’s beaches, it has long been a favorite destination for the jet set. Today, the hotel offers a fleet of chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royces to take guests exploring, whether into town or to the beach club. There’s also a lush tennis court, a large central swimming pool, and extensive gardens—plenty of space for the chaos, intrigue, sex, and shenanigans fans expect from The White Lotus guests and staff.

While little is known about the plot, sources told Variety it might involve the Cannes Film Festival. Casting announcements include AJ Michalka and Alexander Ludwig, and fans can hope for the return of a familiar face from a past season, as happened with Jennifer Coolidge in season two and Natasha Rothwell in season three.

Mike White has announced one change for the upcoming season. “For the fourth season,” he said in a video released by Max on April 6, “I want to get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular.” There will also be a sonic shift: composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer will not return due to creative differences with White.

One thing is certain: not everyone will make it out alive. “There’s always room for more murders in the White Lotus hotels,” White noted.

As of now, there is no official release date for season four, but it could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. In the meantime, catch up on all of The White Lotus‘s wanderlust-inducing filming locations from seasons past.

Launching the acclaimed franchise, season one was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaiʻi in 2020—a time when COVID restrictions were strict and most productions were shut down. Filming took place in and around the picturesque beachfront resort, with the show’s production designer refashioning interiors to fit the story. Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, Sicily

After building a steady fan base, The White Lotus released the first episode of season two to an audience of 7.6 million viewers. The backdrop? The paradise island of Sicily. White chose another Four Seasons property for his second season: the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in the hilltop town of Taormina, overlooking the Ionian Sea with brooding Mount Etna in the distance. Housed in a former 14th-century convent converted into a hotel in the late 19th century, it now offers luxuries like a clifftop infinity pool, intricate Italian gardens, and sea-view accommodations. With no COVID restrictions this time, the cast and crew were able to explore the area freely. The surrounding region includes the baroque-influenced town of Noto, the seaside village of Cefalù, and even the vineyards on Mount Etna (remember that episode set at Planeta Wine).

Guests at The White Lotus Thailand can enjoy sprawling, panoramic views of the calm Gulf of Thailand, framed by shady coconut palms and thatched roofs. The Four Seasons Koh Samui, set on a private peninsula, provides a spectacular tropical backdrop for the show’s third season. Each of the resort’s secluded hillside villas features a private pool, and afternoons can be spent relaxing by the infinity pool or at the world-class spa.

Unlike previous seasons, which were filmed in a single location, the Thailand season also took the crew to several other properties across the country. This includes the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket, which was used for the spa scenes.
