The wildly entertaining Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That—with its addictive, often baffling but utterly delightful charm—is coming to an end. Showrunner Michael Patrick King announced on Instagram that Season 3 will be the show’s last.

Originally, King hadn’t planned to wrap things up now, but while writing the final episode, it felt like the perfect time to say goodbye. “And just like that… the ongoing story of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end,” he wrote. “As I worked on the last episode of Season 3, it became clear this was the right place to stop.”

Along with Sarah Jessica Parker and HBO executives, King decided to conclude the series this year with a two-part finale, expanding the season from 10 to 12 episodes. “We waited to share this news because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to take away from the joy of watching the season,” he explained. “We’re so grateful to the fans who’ve welcomed these characters into their lives all these years.”
