Two years ago for Halloween, I dressed as Ms. Frizzle—the wonderfully eccentric science teacher from the Magic School Bus books. My daughter Alice, who was two at the time, went as the bus itself in a costume made from a Spindrift box. Ms. Frizzle is famous for her wild curly hair, her themed outfits, and her knack for taking her class on marvelous, unexpected field trips—whether into the solar system or the local water treatment plant. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Vogue could take its readers on adventures like that?
Shortly after my new role was announced, I watched 16 creative directors at legendary fashion houses present their debut collections. As Jonathan Anderson of Dior said in his recent Vogue profile: “How do you find newness within something which is already old? By having it dialogue with what’s happening today.” I feel a real connection to that idea, and to all the designers who are honoring the past while making the present feel completely fresh.
I’ve loved Vogue since I was in college, reading issues on the Amtrak ride home from Providence to New York. When people ask about my “vision,” I usually joke that it’s 20/20 and change the subject—but what I will say is that I want to focus on what Vogue does best. The Spring 2026 issue is full of exactly that. Out now is our beautifully romantic and dreamy cover shoot with Rosalía. You’ll also find Hamish Bowles’s touching tribute to Valentino Garavani. Coming soon is Alice Gregory’s charming search for the perfect pillow, and Lukas Wassmann’s playful ode to shoes with personality, starring our favorite office dogs (I’m proud to say there are seven dogs in this issue—and one mule named Twinkie).
I sat down to write this editor’s letter on a Sunday afternoon and, after a bit of procrastination, went for a walk through Bergdorf Goodman. In the lobby, I came face-to-face with Celine’s new Smile bag. It kept the classic shape and details, but Michael Rider’s design turned it ever so slightly upside down—in the most joyful, cheeky way. That’s what I hoped to bring to this issue, which goes on sale around February 24th: to honor this title we’re all so proud of, while adding a wink of playfulness and energy. The only thing I left Bergdorf’s with that day, by the way, was a smile. And I hope that’s what people feel when they read, watch, and listen to Vogue, too.
