For the past few months, Vogue’s senior fashion news editor Laia Garcia-Furtado has been writing the Addressed column—a weekly go-to for style advice and tips on putting outfits together. Drawing from runway looks, real-life trends, and celebrity fashion, Laia has covered everything from cargo pants to the WWS (working woman’s shoe, obviously) to how to style a brooch without looking too old-fashioned (no offense to grandmas!).

On this week’s episode of The Run-Through With Vogue, hosts Chloe Malle, Chioma Nnadi, and Nicole Phelps invited Laia to answer some of the most pressing style questions from Vogue app users. They shared tips on how to confidently wear color if you usually stick to all-black (Chloe insists brown is the new black!), as well as how to stay chic during New York’s sweltering summer heat. The group also advised a student transitioning to a professional wardrobe who wanted to avoid looking too casual. Chioma’s advice? Play with contrasts or mix high and low pieces: “My general rule is, you can wear sneakers with a suit. But if I’m in jeans and a T-shirt, I’ll balance it with a proper shoe, like a heel.”
