We’re just a few days away from the 2026 Met Gala, which means Vogue staff from everywhere are flying into New York City—including our very own Chioma Nnadi. Finally reunited, Chioma, Chloe, and Nicole met up in the studio (on the same day, actually, as another British royal’s visit to the World Trade Center) and caught up.
Earlier this week, Vogue hosted its second Book Club event: a screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which hits theaters on May 1. After the movie ended, Chloe invited former Vogue staffers Kate Young and Billy Norwich to join her on stage for a live podcast recording.
Kate, who started as Anna’s assistant in the late ’90s, and Billy, who was a writer and editor at Vogue back then, shared memories and talked about how they felt about the book and movie when they first came out. Billy actually went with Anna to the 2006 premiere at the Paris Theater and told Chloe that Anna wanted to wear Prada because “that was her sense of humor.” He also mentioned a quiz he created with the late Charles Gandee, which went viral last year when the New York Times published an interactive, multiple-choice version called “Could You Have Landed a Job at Vogue in the ’90s?”
But not all the memories were happy. Kate said she felt hurt after reading an early copy of The Devil Wears Prada: “She was just making fun of us.” As for Billy, his biggest annoyance was that “every time I got on a plane, that movie was playing. So I couldn’t escape it.”
Later in the episode, Chloe, Chioma, and Nicole talked about a classic question that came up after this week’s Chanel show: what exactly is cruise or resort season in fashion? Nicole put it simply: “Cruise is that in-between season, between fall and spring.” The show itself also got the whole office—and the wider fashion world—talking, especially about the unusual shoe-like footwear that several models wore on the runway. These nearly barefoot looks aren’t practical, but they might show up on red carpets in the future.
Chioma also shared the big news that, after a fairly short romance, Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles are engaged. (And the ring is nothing to sneeze at!) In other news, ahead of the first Monday in May, the Vogue Café is popping up in NYC on Saturday and Sunday at Altro Paradiso. Grab your tickets in the Vogue app—we’ll see you there.
