“This look is very special to me; Chanel is the fashion house closest to my heart. This year it’s even more special because it was designed by my dear friend Matthieu Blazy and his incredible team. The dress is simply a work of art, and I truly feel like a princess—Matthieu’s princess.” With these words, Mariacarla Boscono shared her feelings shortly before walking the red carpet at the 2026 Venice Film Festival on the evening of Thursday, September 3rd, for the premiere of Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine. The Italian supermodel attended this major film event wearing a dress from the Chanel Cruise 2026–2027 collection. Her appearance was a captivating return, blending the natural theatricality of her poise with a bold, sophisticated style rich in references to haute couture history.

Mariacarla Boscono at the 2026 Venice Film Festival: all the details of her look

The creation is a perfect blend of the Parisian fashion house’s classic spirit and a vibrant avant-garde edge. Made from the finest, lightest tweed, the dress—chosen by stylist Ramona Tabita—features a sumptuous knotted structure that opens into a generous back neckline and ends in a majestic train that grazes the red carpet.

What makes the garment a true visual work of art is its special black-and-white newspaper-style print. This motif, which recalls bold fashion statements from the early 2000s and pop art, has been reimagined by Chanel with exquisitely textured elegance, where the lettering and simulated photo cuts blend seamlessly with the fabric’s weave.

Adding volume and a touch of romantic three-dimensionality to the bustier, a majestic camellia—the house’s eternal symbol—stands out on the décolleté, crafted in jacquard and adorned with flowing black and white feathers. This couture detail breaks up the print’s linearity, giving the look a dynamic texture and the allure of an international fashion “black swan.”

To complete the outfit, Mariacarla Boscono adorned her face and hands with Damiani creations. Around the supermodel’s neck shone a necklace from the Gioia del Mare collection, which evokes the reflections and hues of the sea. To finish the set, Boscono wore a ring from the famous Mimosa collection, also in white gold and diamonds. The ring’s design—which recreates the seemingly chaotic yet delicate arrangement of the flower’s buds through a meticulous mosaic of diamonds in various cuts—mirrored the same extraordinary visual complexity as the feathers on the dress.

Beyond the dress and the jewelry, it was the model herself who made all the difference. Mariacarla Boscono does more than just walk the runway: she has the rare ability to bring life and soul to what she wears. With her long raven hair left loose in soft, natural-looking waves and minimalist makeup focused on glowing skin, the supermodel avoided any baroque excess, letting the gown’s structural details and the sparkle of the gemstones speak for themselves. Her proud stride, piercing gaze, and effortless handling of the voluminous printed train turned the red carpet into an artistic performance.

This is your fifth red carpet appearance at the 2026 Venice Film Festival—what emotions does this “catwalk” evoke in you each time?

For me, being here at the Venice Film Festival is always incredibly exciting because we’re in Italy, aAnd in Venice, which is magical. It almost always feels like a first time for me, and I’m truly grateful for that. Above all, I’m here to have fun.

You’re the center of attention for photographers on the red carpet, still bathed in sunlight, and then you’re sitting in the dark Sala Grande watching your film, Wild Horse Nine: where do you feel most at ease?

I’d say in the dark theater… but let’s not forget that to get there, you have to walk the red carpet (she smiles, ed.). Light and darkness always go hand in hand.

You’re one of the most cinematic models in history, able to transform into countless different characters. Is there a director at this year’s Festival you’d sit down to dinner with—even just to hear them tell you a story?

The red carpet event I’m attending today in Venice is for Wild Horse Nine, directed by Martin McDonagh. He’s incredible, and I’d love to have dinner with him and the cast, including John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi, and Tom Waits, who makes a special appearance. I’m a huge fan of his music! I’d absolutely love to sit down with all of them for dinner!

The Festival is an adrenaline rush. What’s your favorite way to unwind once the red carpet lights go out and you’re back on the speedboat?

I don’t really feel the adrenaline… I’ve been through so many different experiences over the years that bring me excitement and joy—that’s for sure. To unwind, I definitely love having a nice dinner and drinks with my team… that makes me truly happy, just as much as when my family is with me.
