With so much fashion available online, there’s something refreshing about trying on clothes in person after first seeing them on a small screen. Welcome to Just Browsing: We’re taking you into the fitting room as we explore the latest collections from some of our favorite high-street brands and contemporary labels. We’ll talk about fabric, quality, fit, and feel as we make our way through the store. Happy scrolling—and strolling!

To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I shopped for clothes in a physical store—unless it was vintage—but stepping into the Diane Von Furstenberg flagship in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District felt like more than just shopping. In my family, DVF was a household name, synonymous with women’s fashion. Her personal and professional story has always been inspiring, anchored by the iconic wrap dress that forever changed how women approach style. When I received my first wrap dress at 16—a hand-me-down from my mother—it felt like a rite of passage. It was more sophisticated and grown-up than anything I’d worn before, allowing me to mirror the women I admired.

The flagship store itself is an extension of that legacy. Located beneath the brand’s headquarters, with a grand leopard-print staircase leading up to the offices, it embodies the brand both literally and figuratively. It’s a space where art, fashion, and identity come together. The walls display priceless artwork, including pieces by Francesco Clemente and several of Warhol’s famous portraits of Diane. The store is spacious yet divided into cozy seating areas that invite you to browse the art, furniture, and of course, the fashion.

The highlight of my visit was trying on pieces from DVF’s new collaboration with New York-based designer Henry Zankov, who has become an insider favorite for his vibrant knitwear and bold patterns. The collection feels like a homecoming—Zankov worked closely with Diane Von Furstenberg for four years before launching his own label in 2020. Their shared love of print and color comes together in a playful yet polished edit, featuring sequin knit gowns, clashing prints, and silhouettes that balance ease and drama.

Together, DVF and Zankov created a 26-piece collection that embodies both brands’ ethos: empowering women to feel free, confident, and unrestrained. After trying on nearly everything in the store, here are the pieces I couldn’t stop thinking about.

24/7 Sequins
My everyday style leans toward simple basics, but I love sequins for adding eye-catching detail. That’s why I was so excited about the DVF and Zankov collaboration, which offered plenty of shimmering, attention-grabbing options. I was drawn to the knit sequin-embroidered dresses with their iridescent shine, as well as a more relaxed aloe-green hoodie with clear shiny disks—each piece bearing Zankov’s irresistible touch.

Back to Black
If there’s one piece I can never resist, it’s a black dress. Even though I already have at least ten in rotation, I was immediately drawn to the Cynthia—an off-the-shoulder jersey dress perfect for any occasion, day or night. It had a flattering shape and, best of all, pockets! The Sasha dress came in a close second, with a low V-neckline ideal for more formal events. For a playful twist, pair either with a signature DVF printed scarf or one of their new rope belts.

Spot On
Whether from the fall collection or the Zankov collaboration, DVF had something for everyone. My favorites were the Patricia dress, with its wind-catching ruffled skirt, and the Princess cardigan in a soft mesh—my ideal statement top, both timeless and modern.

Stitched to Perfection
I’ve always felt that embroidery adds a special, personal touch to clothing, highlighting craftsmanship and attention to detail. In DVF’s new fall collection, they enhanced their Sernissima print—a black floral pattern (seen on the wrap dress in the middle) with delicate sequins over pink, purple, and blue accents. I especially enjoyed twirling around the store in the Blanca gown, trying to make the full skirt billow behind me—a true belle of the ball moment.

Clash Course
Prints usually intimidate my minimalist side, but DVF and Zankov’s vibrant mix of patterns and colors made me reconsider. The Mulberry top in floral amethyst was a standout—effortlessly chic and modern. It paired beautifully with both the matching Chrystie skirt and the contrasting Gramercy skirt (which is the same style but with a sheer embroidered overlay), showing that mixed prints can be timeless, not just a trend.

Function Meets Fashion
This season’s solution for style and practicality is the utilitarian coat. At DVF, I found two great sets that highlight this outerwear staple. For warmer weather, the Naomi jacket—a cropped trench with scrunched sleeves—looked perfect with the coordinating pleated skort for a preppy touch. I also loved the Shay jacket; with its blouson fit, funnel-neck collar, and houndstooth yellow fabric, it’s a practical yet stylish layer for cold weather.
