### What is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is a star-studded charity fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Held annually to celebrate the opening of the institute’s fashion exhibition, the event raises tens of millions of dollars each year.

### When is the 2025 Met Gala?
This year’s gala will take place on Monday, May 5.

### What’s the 2025 theme?
The Met announced the spring 2025 exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibit is divided into 12 sections, each highlighting a defining trait of dandy style: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook (a space for dance and leisure, as described by Zora Neale Hurston), Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism.

Featuring clothing, paintings, photographs, and works by artists like Torkwase Dyson, Tyler Mitchell, and others, Superfine explores Black dandyism from the 18th century to today. Miller is a guest curator alongside the Costume Institute’s Andrew Bolton.

### Who’s hosting?
The 2025 co-chairs are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as honorary chair.

A host committee will also return this year, including André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Spike Lee, Janelle Monáe, Usher, and more.

### What’s the dress code?
This year’s theme is “Tailored for You”, celebrating menswear and suiting—expect bold, creative interpretations from attendees.

### What happens at the Met Gala?
Details are kept private—guests must follow a strict no-phone (and no social media) policy inside. The evening includes cocktails, dinner (this year by chef Kwame Onwuachi of Tatiana and Dōgon), a performance, and a chance to explore the exhibition.

Around 450 guests—celebrities, designers, artists, athletes, and influencers—are invited each year. Past icons include Rihanna, Blake Lively, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
