Hailey Bieber loves showing a little ankle. That sliver of skin between shoe and tailored trouser exudes effortless elegance. Now that spring is truly here and temperatures are rising, Bieber has turned to her transitional wardrobe for a polarizing pant length: the capri.

Yesterday (April 17), Bieber was spotted leaving Sushi Park in West Hollywood after dinner—a spot she often visits with husband Justin Bieber, as well as friends like Zoë Kravitz and Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The low-key sushi spot is a celebrity favorite (Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have also been spotted there). This time, Bieber dined with Saint Laurent creative director and longtime friend Anthony Vaccarello.

Fresh off Coachella recovery mode, the Rhode founder stuck to her signature styling playbook: a long, beige open trench from Mango, a simple white tank, and black capri pants. She paired the look with delicate black strappy sandals (Femme LA’s “Maeve” slippers), a black shoulder bag, and sunglasses. Her grown-out bob brushed her shoulders, and she wore a pop of hot pink blush with dark brown lip liner (likely Rhode’s Lip Shape in “Stretch”). A classic trench and well-tailored pants are Bieber staples—this is just her springtime twist on a foolproof formula.

Capri pants have long been controversial, but style icons from Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina to Carrie Bradshaw—and yes, even this writer—have championed their chic appeal. From The Row’s refined cuts to emerging brands like Copenhagen’s Birrot and Paloma Wool, or LVMH Prize finalist Fidan Novruzova’s designs, cropped trousers come in endless variations. Given Bieber’s French-girl aesthetic, the capri is a natural fit for her warm-weather wardrobe.

Even a parking garage or balcony walkway becomes a runway for Bieber and Vaccarello en route to Sushi Park. Fashion and food continue to collide—whether it’s luxury retailer Printemps partnering with a James Beard-winning chef or Prada’s Wong Kar Wai-designed Shanghai restaurant. Earlier this year, Saint Laurent even opened a permanent Sushi Park outpost in its Paris boutique, a testament to Vaccarello’s love for omakase.

Bieber and Vaccarello have been close collaborators for years. At the third annual Fashion Trust U.S. Awards, Vaccarello received the inaugural Honorary Award for his industry impact—presented by Bieber, who, naturally, wore head-to-toe Saint Laurent in deep eggplant.

“There is a purpose in every stitch,” Bieber said on stage. “Anthony Vaccarello, your journey is a testament to the transformative power of fashion, and we are so proud to celebrate you.”

No doubt a few more personal compliments were exchanged over sushi.
