Cardi B has become one of the Met Gala’s most daring fashion icons, and all eyes were on her at the 2025 event. Staying true to the “Tailored for You” theme, she put her own spin on modern dandyism with a stunning Burberry ensemble designed by Daniel Lee, inspired by the exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

“We envisioned Cardi as a feminine, tailored dandy,” Lee told Vogue. “She has main-character energy, and this look captures that.”

The star wore a striking green floor-length embroidered coat with an open back, paired with a silk devoré shirt featuring ruffled cuffs and collar. The outfit was completed with a silk-satin cummerbund and tailored green velvet jacquard trousers adorned with floral vines.

Lee drew inspiration from Victorian fashion and corsetry, particularly a 19th-century emerald green gown with a bold circular cutout. “That touch of rebellion aligns with the spirit of dandyism,” he explained. The coat, crafted from green baroque velvet damask, echoed the opulence of historic British estates, while the intricate hand-sewn beading added movement to the look.

Though Cardi has embraced dramatic styles in past years—from gothic tulle extravaganzas to feathered Thom Browne gowns—this year’s refined yet daring choice proved she’s always full of surprises. “Cardi loves fashion and brings her own vision,” Lee said. “For this Met Gala, we wanted to honor her bold style while celebrating the theme.”
