“Oh, and if you don’t have that Harry Potter book by then… don’t even bother coming back.”
If you’ve seen The Devil Wears Prada (2006), you know that iconic line. Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep), the ruthless editor of Runway magazine, gives her assistant Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) an impossible task: track down an unreleased Harry Potter manuscript for her twins—by that morning. What follows is Andy racing across New York in stilettos and a green Calvin Klein dress, somehow managing to secure the book. It’s one of the movie’s most memorable (and stressful) moments.
Now, nearly 20 years later, Hathaway seems to be channeling that same energy.
This morning, the actress was spotted browsing books at Westsider Rare & Used Books on New York’s Upper West Side—and her effortless, tote-carrying vibe was pure Andy Sachs. Of course, Hathaway was shopping for herself this time, but it’s easy to picture Andy making the same trip to hunt down rare editions for Miranda, all while looking flawless.
Her outfit—a golden Christopher John Rogers barn jacket from J.Crew, cuffed jeans, heeled boots, and oversized sunglasses—was the perfect blend of casual and polished. It’s exactly the kind of effortlessly cool look Andy wore at the end of the film as she walked away from Runway to pursue journalism. Call it Anne’s modern take on Andy.
