If there’s one thing a hyperpop princess loves, it’s a pop culture reference. Addison Rae is no exception—she often takes inspiration from icons like Madonna and Marilyn Monroe when playing with fashion and beauty. “Monroe is always a makeup inspiration,” Rae once told Vogue, also praising Madonna’s bold looks from her Erotica era. Rae has a soft spot for red lipstick—Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet Enchantment, to be exact—applying it first thing in the morning and even blending it onto her cheeks for a natural flush.
But her latest beauty move—a breezy floral manicure for Coachella—was something different. This time, she drew from a more recent pop culture moment: Lindsay Lohan’s infamous 2010 court appearance nails. Back then, Lohan, facing probation violations from a 2007 DUI charge, had “fk you” stenciled on her middle finger.
Rae skipped the profanity, opting instead for “June 6″—the release date of her upcoming album, Addison.
The manicure, created by celebrity nail artist Natalie Minerva, used OPI shades Flex On The Beach, Stay Out All Bright, It’s A Boy, and Makeout-Side for a softer take on Lohan’s leopard-print tie-dye court nails, as Minerva shared on Instagram.
Rae and Minerva have collaborated on countless manicures. “Sometimes we go for fun, colorful looks—bright yellow or hot pink on short natural nails—other times, deep cherry red on long extensions or intricate 3-D nail art,” Minerva says. “We even once recreated Britney Spears’ exact color and shape—she’s also a client of mine.”
