When was Emily in Paris renewed for season 5?
There was some confusion back in May 2024 when, during the amfAR gala at the Cannes Film Festival, Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson took the stage to auction off a walk-on role in Emily in Paris Season 5 for charity. The auction booklet stated that the winner would get a role in season five and spend a day on set in Paris after April 2025, plus attend the Los Angeles premiere of season four in August. Harlow and Jackson mentioned that filming for Season 5 was set to begin in mid-2025, and the winning bid came in at a hefty €250,000.
However, it was later reported that the fifth season hadn’t officially been approved, and the auction site was updated to clarify that the prize was “contingent upon season five pick-up.” Now that the official confirmation is here, fans can relax.
So, what will be the plot of Emily in Paris Season 5?
Most importantly, will Emily Cooper stay in Rome or return to Paris? Darren Star told Netflix, “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris! Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.” Could this mean she’ll be traveling between the Agence Grateau offices in both cities? (From the first stills, it’s clear she also visits Venice.) And will she be torn between Lucas Bravo’s Gabriel and Eugenio Franceschini’s Marcello, just as she was between Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) in the first half of Season 4?
Lily Collins added in an interview, “Marcello is a whole other adventure for Emily because we want her to have a better work-life balance. We want Emily to smile without condition and see her beyond vacation mode. He comes at the perfect time.” Star agrees: “I feel like they have a real spark and a romantic connection. A lot of that will continue to play out next season.”
As for her on-again, off-again relationship with the hot chef? According to Collins, “Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice” to break up with Emily. Ouch. Star adds, “Her love life is always complicated… we have some interesting, surprising developments in terms of her love life.” Stay tuned.
Who will be in the cast of Emily in Paris Season 5?
Collins, Bravo, and Franceschini will be joined by most of the show’s regulars, including Ashley Park (Mindy), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Samuel Arnold (Julien), and Bruno Gouery (Luc).William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Thalia Besson (Genevieve), and Lucien Laviscount (Alfie) are all set to return, with Laviscount confirmed as a series regular. Star recently told Deadline, “Lucien is in nearly every episode this season. He’s fantastic, and I’m thrilled he’s back with a more prominent role this year.”
However, Camille Razat will not be rejoining the cast.
