When Havaianas first approached Marant with the idea, it didn’t take much convincing. Like many, the designer was not only a fan of the brand but had been wearing it for years. “To me, they represent the Brazilian essence of joy, freedom, and summer nonchalance,” she tells Vogue.
Reimagined with sturdier soles wrapped in soft leather and finished with chunky rounded metal studs, two of the four styles perfectly capture Marant’s signature edgy look, while the others showcase her bold use of color and bohemian-inspired prints. Her goal? To create a simple yet “luxurious flip-flop designed to be worn from day to night, from the beach to town—even ending up at a party!”

When it comes to styling, Marant suggests a classic French-girl, less-is-more approach: “You don’t need to wear a lot—a nice bathing suit and a pareo will do. I also love how you can return to city life and still wear your beloved summer flip-flops with a T-shirt and a great pair of fluid trousers or even jeans.”
