“The reason we didn’t [launch] this earlier is because alternative ingredients just weren’t available,” she says. Eventually, she found a few miracle swaps. She traded silicones for coconut alkane (known for its smooth, silky feel) and used amino acid filling powders to blur and absorb excess oil without drying out the skin—or worse, clinging to dry patches.

While blurring has become a buzzword in 2026, finish has always been central to Westman’s skin philosophy. “Blurring is a play on light and texture,” she explains. By making pores appear smoother and diffusing light in a specific way, the amino acid powders create a filter-like effect while still letting natural skin show through.
