Fourteen years after Grace Coddington’s first revealing memoir, Grace—which traced her journey from the damp, gray landscapes of Anglesey, Wales, to the excitement of London in the Swinging Sixties, and later to the editorial teams of British and American Vogue—the longtime creative director is releasing another major book.
Following Grace: The American Vogue Years (2015) and Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue (2016), both lavish collaborations with Phaidon, Coddington will publish Grace: Now this October. The book highlights her work over the past decade with 13 master photographers and photographic duos: Mert & Marcus, Arthur Elgort, Jamie Hawkesworth, Steven Klein, Inez & Vinoodh, Annie Leibovitz, Peter Lindbergh, Craig McDean, Steven Meisel, Rafael Pavarotti, Paolo Roversi, Karim Sadli, and David Sims.
Naturally, many of the featured stories come from Vogue’s pages. These include Lindbergh’s “Wildest Dreams” (July 2019), with Polish actor Tomasz Kot from Paweł Pawlikowski’s film Cold War and model Rianne Van Rompaey, her hair styled dramatically, in the California desert; “People in the Sun” (December 2023), Leibovitz’s tribute to Edward and Josephine “Jo” Hopper starring Maya Hawke and a group of contemporary artists; and Emma Stone’s playful September 2025 cover story, photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth at the Palais des Papes in Avignon. Other selections are drawn from her work for publications like British Vogue, Vogue Italia, W, and Document Journal.
Enriching this collection are introductions and commentaries from editors, designers, models, and celebrities who have been part of Coddington’s creative world, including Anna Wintour, Sara Moonves, Edward Enninful, Billy Norwich, Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, Sofia Coppola, Mia Goth, and Elle Fanning. The book also features personal reflections from Coddington herself, starting with a heartfelt, handwritten tribute to the late Michael Roberts.
Consider this book essential for the most dedicated fashion lovers in your life—and the perfect way to wish Grace a happy 85th birthday today.
