Fashion loves a debut, but longevity has its own special appeal. Ralph Lauren, who turns 87 this year and whose brand will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2027, has returned to our top 10 most-viewed shows list. After his men’s show in Milan topped our menswear ranking in January, his fall women’s ready-to-wear collection landed at number six. The brand has dubbed its recent resurgence “Rolling Thunder,” and I can confirm the momentum. Even without a runway—presented instead in a Paris showroom—the Polo Ralph Lauren collection made it into our top 20.
Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut at Fendi earned a spot in our lineup. “Less I, More Us,” read the motto on her Milan runway, which reflected the collection’s broad appeal. Haider Ackermann, now in his third season at Tom Ford, also appeared after narrowly missing the list last season. I’d say this is less about wide appeal and more about the real sense of FOMO his intimate, atmospheric shows create among fashion devotees. A nod is due to his collaborator, movement director Pat Boguslawski, for the models’ seductive choreography.
Three new entries mean three brands fell off. Two of them—Maison Margiela and Valentino—opted out by showing off-schedule. Margiela’s Glenn Martens is headed to Shanghai to kick off a three-week activation in China with a combined ready-to-wear and Artisanal runway show. Valentino’s Alessandro Michele swapped Paris for an off-schedule show in Rome on Thursday night. Balenciaga’s Pierpaolo Piccioli is the third to slip off; his Euphoria tie-in didn’t quite ignite the internet—perhaps it was too early to capitalize on excitement for the show’s third season in April. But Piccioli has other projects ahead, including his couture debut in July.
The rest of the list held fairly steady: Dior’s Jonathan Anderson took the top spot from Chanel’s Matthieu Blazy; Gucci’s resident provocateur Demna held firm; and Miuccia Prada—another designer with lasting power, underscored by Chloë Sevigny’s runway return 30 years after her first Miu Miu walk—placed both of her shows in the top five. Chapeau!
